A trash, not a void
Thirty days to change your mind. Set it to 15, 60 or 90 if you would rather.
Every other to-do list assumes that when you check it off, you’re done. That isn’t always true. Thingist counts the days on everything sitting in somebody else’s hands — the permit, the quote, the signature, the part.
One payment · no subscription · no account · no server
A sent email isn’t always a finished task. Hand something off without losing sight of it — Thingist asks who has it, dates it the moment you say so, and then leaves you alone until you ask.
No mainstream to-do list has this. Things doesn’t. TickTick doesn’t. Motion doesn’t. Todoist makes you build it yourself out of labels and filters.
Drag the row. Swiping right gives you Today, then Waiting On — and all eight actions are yours to assign to the four slots.
So the wait is a number you can point at, not a feeling that it has been a while. Group the list by person and one phone call clears four rows.
Turn it on and Thingist plans one reminder about a day later — never before 8am or after 9pm, and skipping the weekend if that area says so. The task leaves Today while it is with them, and comes back when the reminder fires.
At a month with no chase booked, a flag appears in the sidebar. Nothing moved, nothing rescheduled, nothing pinged — the app does not act just because it could.
There is nowhere for your work to be sent, because nowhere was ever built to send it. That’s not a promise I’m making. It’s a description of what exists.
Your list lives on your devices and in your iCloud, which I can’t read. Turn iCloud off and it keeps working, entirely on the device.
Read the whole policy — it’s shorter than this page.
AI does not run Thingist. Nothing reads your list, nothing ranks it, and nothing quietly rearranges your day while you’re sleeping. You wrote the list. It is still the list you wrote.
Typing a task is pattern matching — it reads the words, works offline, and is the same on every device Thingist runs on.
On iOS 26 and macOS 26, with Apple Intelligence switched on, Siri and the Mac quick-entry box take a second look at anything the plain reading could not place. Dates and times stay with the plain reading either way. It all happens on your device — nothing reaches me, and without Apple Intelligence the plain reading handles everything.
Some apps will rebuild your whole day around their own opinion. One calls itself an “AI SuperApp” and makes you use it. Some sell the AI by credits you can run out of. Some have changed what they charge more than once. That is the road many of them are on. Thingist is not joining them.
Where Apple Intelligence comes in, exactly
Siri, and the quick-entry box on the Mac — on iOS 26 and macOS 26, with Apple Intelligence on. A second look at whatever the plain reading could not place.
Dates and times never go near it. Those are read the plain way, always.
Dictation is separate. The microphone in the box is your device’s own speech recognition and works offline.
All of it happens on your device. None of it reaches me, and with Apple Intelligence off the plain reading does the lot.

Almost everyone else bills you every year, and the number is theirs to change. Todoist raised its Pro price in December 2025. Sunsama raised its in early 2026. Motion has repriced more than once and now meters its AI by credits.

Split a single Home Screen widget between Today and Waiting On — then check things off right there. The app never has to open.
A ring beside the name fills as the steps get checked off. You can see where a job stands without opening it.
Complete copies, on their own, into your own iCloud Drive — every task, area, template and setting. Restore the lot or only what is missing.
Any mix of areas, tags, timing and state, saved into the sidebar with its own name, symbol and color.
One purchase covers your household, not just your devices. Nothing extra to buy for anyone else at home.
There is no account. I don’t know who you are, and I have no way to reach you. Once you have bought it there is no license check, no account, and no server that could take it away.
Not a policy. A fact about how it was built. Once you have it, it’s yours.
Sending it isn’t finishing it. Thingist counts the days on everything sitting in somebody else’s hands.
